The Band and Chorus are in full swing! We have the largest beginner band that anyone can remember!!!! The music program is growing and wonderful things are happening here at North Schuylkill!

Beginner Band Members - you have rehearsal every MONDAY
Advanced Band Members - you have rehearsal every WEDNESDAY

4th Grade Chorus - TUESDAY
5th and 6th Grade Chorus - THURSDAY


I have had a few 3rd graders ask about recorders. We will be starting them in January. Nothing to worry about now!

WELCOME BACK!!!

We are going to hit the ground running in the music department!!! Band and Chorus sign-ups are underway! All students in grades 4 - 6 are eligible to participate in these exciting programs!!!

Please see me for a sign-up paper.

Band Meet the Teacher and Music Representative night will be Tuesday, September 7th at 6:00 PM. The meeting will be held in the Elementary Cafeteria. I look forward to meeting you there!

I look forward to starting this year and meeting all of my new and returning students in grades K-6.

Band and Chorus Concert

Our Spring Concert will be held on MAY 19, 2010 in the High School Auditorium at 7:00 PM.

Third grade is finished the recorder music! Time to learn about harmony and band instruments for next year.


Kindergarten and Sixth Grades will be working on music for their graduation ceremonies.

First, Second, and Fourth will be continuing with singing and utilizing classroom percussion.

Fifth grade will be writing a song that tells a story.

Spring is in the Air

The beginner and advanced band are currently involved in a practice competition!!!! Keep your calendars up to date! You only have until the end of the month!!! Practice out on you porch on these warm nights!

March 4 - 11

This rotation third grade classes will be taking their first written test on the recorder. Everything they need to study is on the review lesson in the book. They also need to know the vocabulary words on the preliminary lesson.

Sixth grade is continuing the dance unit

Fifth grade is finding messages in music. They will begin working on Cotton Eye Joe.

Fourth grade is writing and performing verse 7 to Betsy and Ike.

K,1, and 2 will be creating accompaniments for their songs. They will be singing and moving to their music!

Band Students - You have your practice calendars - Who will be the March Winners???

Chorus Members - Look over the word sheets - we are just about to start learning movements for our show!

February 2 -12

Chorus Members - Some of you still need to bring your $1 for the kazoo and flag. Please get it in ASAP.

Band Members - Keep up the home lesson practice. I am getting some feedback that many of you need to get your horn out at home and do some more work! I know you can do it! Keep up the NS pride!

Third Grade - After you play Lesson 1 we are moving right on to Lesson 2. Keep practicing and studying your vocabulary words!

Fifth Grade - You will be performing your compositions in the next music class! I can't wait to hear your finished product!

Sixth Grade - Nice Job with round one of the dance unit! You are doing the Troika next!!!!!

Last Week of January

Chorus Members - Don't Forget to bring in your dollar for the kazoo and flag. Please put the money in an envelope with your name and grade level

Band Members - All music has been handed out....keep on working hard, I am so proud of you!!!

Third Grade - Recorders are going out! You need to study the Preliminary Lesson and Practice Lesson 1. - Remember to put your LEFT hand on top!

Sixth Grade - Wear your dancing shoes, my FAVORITE unit begins this coming rotation!
