December 7 - 11

7th General Music - We are doing our found sound unit. Students are creating their own songs using "instruments" they find at home. Music History - Romantic Era Opera Music Tech - We are compiling a Christmas CD Chorus - Final concert preparations are taking place. Adapted Music - we are preparing our guitar/singing piece of Christmas Music.

November 16-25

Seventh Grade - Finishing Note and Rhythm unit. Written Test on Wednesday 11/18. We will begin our listening unit on Thursday. Music History - We are finishing the Romantic Era and will have a test on Thursday 11/19. We will be starting the chapter on the Romantic Era Opera on Friday. Music Technology - We finished our guitar accompaniment. We will be researching, learning to use, and sharing apps. Chorus - We will be continuing to sing. A Singing test will be given in class the week of Thanksgiving break. Adaptive Music - We will continue playing our guitars and working on our current song with instrumental accompaniment.

October 5 - 9

Seventh grade - We will finish our jingle unit by creating a commercial. We will start our freedom rider unit. Chorus class - we are beginning choreography in all classes Music History - We started the unit on classical music. We have been discussing Mozart. Music Technology - We are using hokusai and blending music together.

Sept. 28 - Oct.2

Seventh grade - We did the Unsquare Dance listening activity Monday. We will be beginning our Jingle Unit on Tuesday and we will working on that in class all week. Music History - Review on Monday, Test on the Baroque on Tuesday, We will begin the Romantic Period on Wednesday. Music Technology - We will be starting hokosai on Monday. Chorus - Jr. High - We will Sing Mon/Tuesday and start choreography for the remainder of the week. Chorus - Sr. High - We will begin to learn our Holiday song.

September 21-25

Seventh Grade - We will be doing our found sound unit. All students must bring their found sound instrument to school on Tuesday. Music History - We are discussing the Baroque Era. Test on Friday. Music Technology - Students are presenting their podcasts then we are going to be starting to use hokusai. Chorus - Junior High - We are learning the songs we will be performing in the concert as a junior high group. Chorus - Senior High - We are continuing working on the county chorus piece. We will start our class piece this week.

Sept 14 - 18

Music 7 - Students will discuss Genre's of music. Students will take notes on music listening vocab and begin to apply it to the music we are hearing. End of week we will begin our found sound unit. Music History -We will begin the chapter on Medieval Music Music Technology - Students will work on their "This Day in History" podcast Chorus Class - Jr. High will begin working on their holiday song. Sr. High will continue working on the count/district audition piece. Adapted Music - Students will continue playing the guitar as well as composer discussions.

September 8 - 11

Music 7 - Students will continue with their pentatonic songs. They will play them as part of a review this week. Students will have a written test on Friday, Sept. 11 Adapted Music - We will be continuing with the guitar, composers, classroom percussion, and ipads Music History - We are finishing chapter 6 on Wednesday. We will review for our test on Thursday. Music History Test on Friday. Music Technology - We are presenting projects 1 and 2 on Wednesday. We will continue with project 3 using Garage Band. Chorus Jr. High - We will continue working on the National Anthem in 3 parts and proper warm-up techniques. Chorus Sr. High - We will be working on the county/district audition piece.

May 11 - 22

Seventh Grade - Students presented their found sound ensemble pieces on Monday. We will be alternating our sing off challenge with a unit on the freedom riders and the music that came from that era. Modern Music - We are presenting our powerpoint projects on musicians from the modern music era. Music Technology - Students are finishing their last project of creating a song. Chorus Class - Preparing to sing for the memorial day program at school.

May 4th - May 8

7th Grade General - students did the silent rhythm game on Monday. We will begin our found sound unit Tuesday. All students must bring in their found sound "instrument" on Wednesday. Modern Music - Power Point Presentations began on Monday Music Technology - Students will finish their group project and begin their final project this week. Chorus Class - We will fine tune the chorus class songs and prepare for our Memorial Day Program.

April 20-24

Seventh Grade -We are listening to music and discussing different genres of music. This is a big listening week. Modern Music - We are working on projects regarding different bands or artists. Music Tech - Students are doing group work to create parody's using garageband. Chorus Class - We are working on our mashed up selection as well as Chili Con Carne.

April 27-May 1

Seventh General - We are working on writing our jingle and performing them this week. We will pick our favorite jingle and create a commercial. Modern Music - We are creating power point presentations on our favorite artists. Music Technology - Our Parody's are finished and we are making party mixes. Chorus Class - We are working on our mashed up piece as well as writing speaking parts for the concert.

April 13 - 17

Seventh Grade - Test Monday, We will perform our pentatonic songs on Tuesday/Wednesday. Music listening terms will be taken and we will practice some listening skills. Modern Music - We will discuss Elvis and continue moving through the Era of Elvis. Music Technology - We will be working on a parody song. Chorus Class - We will keep refining our pop selection and work on Chili Con Carne.

April 6 - 10

7th General - Students will be composing measures in 4/4 time on Monday. Tuesday we will learn the pentatonic scale and take our measure and turn them in to a song. Wednesday and Thursday we will practice and play our songs. Friday we will have a written test on the note names and the values of the notes. Modern Music - We will be discussing Johnny Cash and Elvis this week and how they were part of the "American Dream." Music Tech - We will be working with our found Apps in the beginning of the week and then using garage band. Chorus class - Monday we will pick an additional song for the concert. Wednesday and Friday we will be working on the new song as well as chili con carne. Come and see the musical "Crazy for You" and you will get 5 points extra credit.

March 31 - April 3

Music 7 - We will be finishing up the last sing of and paragraph for the 3rd quarter. The 4th quarter classes will begin on Wednesday and we will start by taking notes on notes and discussing behavior expectations. Music Technology - We will spend this week using apps everyone found and trying to make some interesting projects. Modern Music - Review Monday and Tuesday - TEST WEDNESDAY. Chorus Class - Singing Chili Con Carne on Monday and Singing Test on Chili Wednesday.

March 23-27

Seventh Grade - Students are finish up their own lyrics to we shall overcome and performing it with the guitar and their classmates. We will be starting the sing off on Wednesday as well as some additional listening activities. Modern music - We will be finishing our classroom presentations this week. Music Technology - We presented our Hokusai and we are now working on the Apps project Chorus Class - We will be exclusively singing Chili Con Carne.

March 16 - 20

Music 7 - We are discussing Freedom Riders and the music that sprung from that movement. We will be listening to We shall overcome and creating our own verses to this song. Modern Music - Fast and Furious Review on Tuesday. Test on Wednesday. Thursday we will begin our next round of power point presentations. Music Technology - We are using Hokusai to create a mash-up song. Chorus - Monday were vocal auditions for a solo. Wednesday we will sing Chili Con Carne. Friday we will continue marking the rhythms of Chili Con Carne.

March 9 - 13

Seventh Grade - Students will film their commercial on Monday. We start a new unit on Tuesday Found Sound! We will discuss found sound and do a listening activity on Tuesday. Wednesday we will begin to write our found sound piece. All students will have to bring in their own found sound "instrument" for class Wednesday. Found sound presentations will occur on Friday. History of Mod. Am. Music - student presentations are due to the drop box Monday. We will begin presentations on Tuesday. We will present one per day for the week, including next Monday. Classroom Technology - Students will use Hokusai to create their own mixes. Monday we will work on a project together then they will work independently to create their own mix. Chorus class - We will be working on singing Chili con Carne. They will have a singing test on Friday.

February 23-27

Seventh Grade - We are writing a Jingle in Class this week. If they are not completed by the end of class Wednesday they must be completed for homework. We will be performing our Jingle on Thursday. We will chose our favorite jingle and turn it into a commercial. We will brainstorm ideas on Friday. Modern Music. - All students are working on researching an artist of their choice and creating a presentation for class. Music Tech - We are creating and sharing our podcasts. Chorus Class - We are finishing our choreography this week and will be working on Chili Con Carne on Friday. Bring your recording device to class Friday to get your part recorded.

February 4-12

Seventh Grade General Music - Continue playing the pentatonic creations. Written Test on FRIDAY the 6th! We will continue reading music and playing boom whackers the week of the 9th. History of Modern American Music - Continue the research of the electric guitar. We will continue with a discussion on the 1940's music. Music Technology - we will be playing our selected songs on the ipad guitar. Chorus - we will continue to choreograph and work on our a cappella selection.

January 5 - 9

Jazz - Test on Wednesday, Review for final on Thursday - Final on Friday. Music Tech. - Review how to use the apps for our final on Monday. Seventh Grade General - Sing off on Thursday. Freedom Riders on Wednesday. Finish Sing off on Final and Continue working on Freedom Riders.
