May 7-16

Seventh Grade - We are working on our found sounds. All students must have a found sound instrument for May 7th. They are writing their own song and will be performing them for the class. The week of May 12-16 we are discussing freedom riders and the music that came from that movement. Eighth Grade - We are still playing guitars. Each student will be writing their own 12 bar blues song with a partner. We will discuss a few jazz artists. All Rock and Roll projects are due on May 9th. If the students are going on the trip to Hershey Park they must be submitted on May 8th. Chorus Class - We are in the home stretch. We sing at the elementary band concert on May 8th at 7:00 PM. Our concert is May 13th at 7:00 PM.

March 10-14

Seventh Grade - We are completing our Jingle and creating our commercial. Extra credit to any student who brings in props, etc. for the jingle filming on Tuesday. We will begin our freedom riders unit on Wednesday. Eighth Grade - We are discussing Jazz artists and writing our 12 bar blues piece. We will perform our music this week. All research projects are due to Mrs. Kline by Friday March 14th. Chorus Class - We are choreographing on Monday, Solo Auditions on Wednesday, and Singing on Friday.

Feb 27-March 7

Seventh - We are talking about music and listening to music. DUE FRIDAY 2/28 the title and artist of a song written on paper. This will be used in our listening unit. It must be school appropriate. Eighth - Guitar test on Friday 2/28 - Parts of the guitar as well as the 5 chords. Research projects were assigned on 2/27 and are due on 3/14. Chorus Class - Working on Motown. Singing Test on 2/6

Feb 18 - 21

Seventh Grade - We are working on our Found Sounds. All students must bring in their found sound instrument this week. First period needs it for Wed. Seventh period needs theirs for Thursday. Eighth Grade - We are playing the guitars. We are working on C, G, G7, and D7 chords this week. chorus Class - We are choreographing our Disney piece of music.

Dec 3-6

Seventh Grade - There will be a mini unit on the Freedom Riders. Students will learn some vocabulary needed for their reading. Students will read a short bio on a freedom rider and share their findings with the class. Students will learn about the song that came out of the movement and write their own lyrics to the song. Eighth Grade - Students will be working on their selected piece of music. They will be performing it on Monday 12/9. Students will also be learning about Jazz Artists. Eighth Grade Research Project is due on 12/9/13 Chorus Class - Students will be writing the speaking parts for the concert and working on their piece for the concert.

November 4-8

Seventh Grade - We are writing our own Pentatonic song. We are practicing it on the bells and will be performing it for our classmates. Written Test on Thursday on the parts of music. Eighth Grade - We are writing rhythms and our own lyrics to the Banana Boat Song. This will be performed. Written Test on Thursday on the notes and values. Chorus Class - we are finishing the choreography of Christmas on Broadway. Solo auditions were held on Tuesday.
